Darlene’s Sunrise

Darlene's Sunrise2

Just this week my friends in Calgary, Alberta got hit hard with a dump of snow that is unusual for this time of year. It seems fall is slipping into winter right before our eyes and without a graceful transition.

When I think of September here in Northwestern Ontario I think of what I like to call ‘the birds of September’. I think of sunny skies and lots of birds chirping and frolicking. This year that did not happen. It was a September with lots of rain and cloud and cool temperatures. But as the old saying goes, “such is life”.

When my friend Darlene posted this picture of her sunrise with the snow, I thought it was both beautiful and breathtaking. I have come to believe that sunsets and sunrises are divine reminders that can strengthen our soul. Everytime we see a sunrise it is confirmation that the sun will rise again. Just like us, we have slips, falls, and pain in life but we can count on the sun rising again and a new day to be had.

Watching the sun rise and set is a powerful way to ground yourself in the trust of a new day.

I encourage everyone to see as many sunsets and sunrises as they can and each time you do watch it like it is both your first and last time. There lies the magic.
