Heaven on Earth, Life's Beauty

She Knows Me!

I love lilacs! My sister in Toronto sent me an email yesterday saying she thought of me when she saw these. Apparently where she lives, the lilacs are in bloom. Not yet where I am though, so something to look forward to!

The sweet smell of these flowers are amazing to me and it takes me to an almost mystical place when I inhale their beauty. And the colors! Although they come in various colors, light purple, dark purple and white being the most common in my neck of the woods, I like the light purple the best! What are your favorites?

I hope you find extra beauty in the flowers this spring. I know I enJOY them more and more every year and it seems as I age, their beauty becomes even more profound to me.

EnJOY!

The Brilliant Cross

I am in Denver, Colorado and today I was out exploring. I found the architecture and the buildings simply jaw dropping and I will be making a blog post to share some of those pictures, but in this post I wanted to share this one picture. I was taking a picture of a church with a tall building behind it and this is what ended up being captured. I thought it was pretty awesome!

The Brilliant Cross
aging, Gentleness

A Beautiful Life

We are bombarded with ads everywhere promoting a more youthful appearance, how to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and how to stop aging. It’s sad really that we feel this way.

My daughter is 12 and she often expresses with complete JOY how cute she thinks old people are. In fact, she often calls them adorable! I feel the same and I love that the youth of the world think so too!

I often people watch in places like airports and on airplanes and I am just in awe at the beauty and grace all around me in the form of aging bodies that contain souls and minds full of wisdom and life. I marvel just as much at them as I do at the brand new babies, maybe more so!

The word that often comes to mind, when I encounter this beauty, is ‘gentleness’ and I think the world needs more gentleness now …. don’t you?

What if we spent the precious time that we do have in our days focusing on shining eyes and beautiful souls, rather than trying to stop the grace that presents itself in the process of aging and in all of its glory?

Do I get caught off guard at times when I look at my own reflection in the mirror? Yes, but now I try to smile back at myself and look into my own eyes, knowing that all is perfect, and every stage in life has its beauty. We often say there are ages and stages when it comes to raising kids, but there are also ages and stages to aging. The more we can accept all of these stages, with grace, the gentler the process and the more we can see the beauty.

I encourage everyone to look for the beauty, to love the ages and stages, and to remember that at the end of our lives it’s not about the wrinkles, but about who we loved, who loved us, and the moments that mattered along the way…….

“Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles, notice them.”

Crystals, Lake Superior, Nature, Photography

Blue Ice Crystals

blueicecrystals

This beautiful display was my view this morning on the last day of January. Lake Superior never disappoints and offers opportunities to take one’s breath away on a daily basis.

Lately I have been drawn even more so to the crystals in my life.  Having named my coaching business “Crystal Clear Coaching” many years ago, it seems fitting. However, I did not understand the true beauty of the way crystal formations can and do appear in nature.

I like to think of these crystals formations as conduits to beauty, clarity and divine offerings….

Oh Great Lake Superior

A Poem composed and written by me on the shores of Lake Superior where I have found my inspiration and creativity flourishing.

For the audio version listen here:

Oh Great Lake Superior.

I did not know I would fall so deep…

So deep in love with you!

Or how deep your rapture would in turn capture my soul.

I now long and yearn for you when together or apart.

You share with me your beauty.

And it goes straight to my heart.

You show me your many faces.

All of which are unique and pleasing to the eye.

I now know why artists listen to your waves and point their cameras in your midst.

You are relentless in your offerings of beauty and divine prowess.

Your treasures are timeless and the delight you offer is legendary.

Oh how my soul thanks you!

The Miracle of You

bald-eagle-1018732_1280

I had an AH-MAZING experience today. I was driving down a peaceful road by myself and listening to a song on Sound Cloud sung by my friend Paul Luftenegger called “The Miracle of You” The Miracle of You on Soundcloud

In the middle of the song a bald eagle swooped in front of my windshield and gracefully glided by and then swooped back up into the sky. It was incredible! I saw its entire wing span and all of the colors in it. It was like a intimate encounter with this beautiful bird. I have never been so close to a bald eagle ever like this, and the entire experience seemed divine. It was literally like it was in slow motion even though I was going about 80 km an hour.

I tried to find a picture to depict what it looked like, but I don’t think I would ever be able to find one that could capture what I saw in that divine moment.

Darlene’s Sunrise

Darlene's Sunrise2

Just this week my friends in Calgary, Alberta got hit hard with a dump of snow that is unusual for this time of year. It seems fall is slipping into winter right before our eyes and without a graceful transition.

When I think of September here in Northwestern Ontario I think of what I like to call ‘the birds of September’. I think of sunny skies and lots of birds chirping and frolicking. This year that did not happen. It was a September with lots of rain and cloud and cool temperatures. But as the old saying goes, “such is life”.

When my friend Darlene posted this picture of her sunrise with the snow, I thought it was both beautiful and breathtaking. I have come to believe that sunsets and sunrises are divine reminders that can strengthen our soul. Everytime we see a sunrise it is confirmation that the sun will rise again. Just like us, we have slips, falls, and pain in life but we can count on the sun rising again and a new day to be had.

Watching the sun rise and set is a powerful way to ground yourself in the trust of a new day.

I encourage everyone to see as many sunsets and sunrises as they can and each time you do watch it like it is both your first and last time. There lies the magic.

Dare to Dream

My friend May is an amazing artist who is starting to awaken to truly embracing her gift. Today she shared with me a poem she wrote while taking an art class through Tracy Verdugo’s Mojo E-Course.

Our conversation initiated from a post I made myself the other day that was “LIFE is the canvas. YOU are the artist.”

lifeisthecanvas

I hope you enjoy May’s poem and art as much as I do. Thank you May for inspiring all of us by awakening to your creative and divine self.  Namaste…..

Mays dream catcher2

Dare To Dream
Big bright beautiful dreams
Realizing that life is our canvas
We are artists each and everyone
Dare to draw, paint, sculpt, knit, sing, dance, bake or act
Be playful
Rummage through torn up scraps
From someone else’s masterpiece
Trust yourself May
Like the wise old owl
It’s a new beginning
OWN IT
Tell your story with a loaded paintbrush
Like the old masters before us
Van Gogh, Beatrix Potter, Walt Disney
A new understanding arises…. I love playful artists and vibrant colours
Breathing in gratitude breathing out doubt
I am ready to leave my mark.

Feel Your Way to Freedom

Focus

Feelings are our road to recovery, our road to peace and well-being. When we are in a space of quiet despair or unrest, we can use our feelings to guide us back to peace and even to hopefulness.

By drawing our attention and intention to thoughts that center around gratitude and love, we can tip the scales from fear to love, or to peace within. If we stopped to truly contemplate the compilation of life’s moments that comprise a lifetime, I am sure we would desire that the moments consisted of harmonious energies and thoughts that served our highest good, verses those that were negative and self-destructive. I am sure at the end of our lives we would wonder why we wasted one precious second or moment in a fear based space.

It is not always easy to love ourselves fully in every moment, but the more we shift our focus to the feelings of gratitude and well-being, the easier it becomes.

The other thing that happens is we develop a deeper compassion and understanding for others travelling along on this earthly journey. Judgement of ourselves and others is a barrier to freedom and to peace of mind. Try taking just one moment now to release yourself from self condemnation or self-judgement. Have compassion for yourself and in turn you cast compassion on others.

We are all doing the best we can and learning and growing as we go. We all have slips and falls and brush ourselves off and get back up again.

I wish everyone, including myself, the freedom to let go of self defeating thoughts, memories, regrets, should haves, should have nots, and to move through the tunnel of love and towards self acceptance.

Let us all experience more moments of beauty, grace, and love in this orchestra of life expressing itself through us.
