Happy Heart Day to My Favorite Valentine of All!!!!

valentines 2019Happy Valentine’s day to my beloved Life! I am so grateful for the gift of Life. I painted this picture this morning showing how I ‘feel’. I feel like my heart is going to burst with happiness.

Every morning when I wake up I am thankful for yet another day on earth where I get a chance to use my heart and to project love out to the entire planet. I know that it starts with myself and I have gotten better at loving myself too. I do my best to do what I can too to help others to love themselves. I know that when we all are full of our own love, it can’t help but spill out onto the rest of the world. ๐Ÿ™‚

What else am I grateful for today oh lovely life of mine? I am grateful for the gift of Life itself itself where I can be childlike and paint pictures like this and I get to express myself as a creator. I know I can createย  pictures and use colors and my imagination. It is so thrilling! And guess what? I can create my day and my world too! Wow!ย  Thank you Life for allowing me to express myself as the divine orchestrator and creator that I am! I am that I am!

Is life always easy? No. Is life always fair? No. But…. I know that what I seek seeks me so I seek Love, Kindness, Compassion, JOY, Laughter, Expression, Art, Writing, Singing and more…. In fact, I seek more, more, more!!!! But best of all, I love, love, love,ย  that I can help others find all of these things in their life too! Thank you Life for allowing me to use my gift of expression to share inspiration and love through this heart of mine that beats for yet another day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to LIFE! You are the most precious gift and I am grateful to you with all my heart………….

Oh and thanks to my daughter, Sivanna Roses for encouraging me to pick up a paint brush. I do love it!!!! Why have I waited so long? ๐Ÿ™‚

Discover YOUR Gifts!

This week I had a lot of big wins for my heart because I was witness to several people awakening to who they are and the gifts they have to offer the world just by being who they are!

I am on a relentless mission to help people to become unstoppable in awakening to their true selves and also in discovering and sharing their gifts that they have to offer the world.ย  I believe we are all here to do just that.

Maybe your gift is that you are compassionate and can hold space for people, or you areย  a great listener, or baker,ย  or artist of any kind, or you have the best smile. We ALL have gifts and often undiscovered gifts. Many of them remain hidden due to the fact that they come so natural to us, that we don’t even suspect it is a gift!!!! Think on this one a minute…. what do you do that comes so natural to you, you just take it for granted?

For me, it was writing. I can write easily and the words just flow through me like they are doing now. I never lack inspiration and could write all day long. However, with that said, I just discovered that this is one of my gifts! It hit me like a lighting bolt and I can’t believe I didn’t see it.

So what about you? I want you to really connect and see what makes your heart sing when you do it. Why not take this week to ‘listen’ to your higher self and see what it has to say. Just ask, I promise, you will always get an answer. Also see what makes you smile, what comes naturally and what is something you would like to do more of and then run with it. Become unstoppable.

And it matters not how old you are, or if you have never put it out there before, just take a stab at it. A saying that helped me transition to using my gift of writing was something to the effect of “What is a writer?” and the answer was “Someone who writes, so just write”. Boom that did it for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay I will close by sharing a beautiful message I received this week. I was fortunate enough to have someone share with me a monumental life change they were making and I was happy to be able to support them and be their cheerleader. I love watching people bloom into the highest versions of themselves.

Here was the message. My heart jumped for JOY upon reading it.

“Maggie, thank you so much. Your support meant more to me then I realized!ย  I had an amazing day yesterday, and woke this morning feeling so blessed to be a part of your life’s journey. Guess what there’s that smile again today!! I feel like I’m on fire and starting to live life! And with your support throughout the years and especially now ,I thank you!! โ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธโ™ฅ๏ธ”

This, my friends, is what sets me on fire and supports me on my mission to help myself and others to be unstoppable!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

There are Still Gifts Waiting for YOU!

If you prefer and audio version of this blog post:

I was just listening to a FB live with Anita Moorjani, author of “Dying to Be ME” and she stated that if you are still here, as in alive on earth, it means that there are still gifts waiting for you.

I thought this was beautiful and true!ย  This is so inspiring to hear. I am learning everyday that we need to be open to the gifts. We need to be open to our own gifts and to allow them to flow through us so that we can share our gifts with the world.

There are also gifts for us and we need to be able to receive them. There areย  gifts of beauty, kindness, Love,ย  sensation, wonder, art, creation, JOY and more! Gifts, gifts everywhere!

Go ahead, open your gifts and receive your gifts. ๐Ÿ™‚

Gratitude Pop!

Today while messaging a client I came out with a new phrase and thought I would make a new category for it over here at my blog. “Gratitude Pop”. I love it! These can also be called “Joy Pops”, which I love too.

Here is where the gratitude pop stemmed from today.

gratitude chocolates

It is my client’s birthday and she sent me this picture of what she found on the table this morning from her son. I said to her that her heart must be bursting and she said “YES!”

It is such a good feeling to have a pop or burst of gratitude. The new show “Tidying up with Marie Kondo” uses the term ‘Spark Joy’ for keeping items that you absolutely love and cherish. Whatever we call them, they are awesome indeed, and very well something worth focusing on and looking for throughout our day. Think of them like bursts of joy, pleasure and an indicator of something that makes your heart and soul happy. ๐Ÿ™‚

This morning I had my own gratitude pop when I saw that the sun was once again rising,on this cold January day in Canada.

What about you? Can you start to add to your Gratitude Pop list throughout your day? Maybe it simply starts with the fact that there is another day. Not everyone will wake up tomorrow to another day sadly, but true. Or maybe you get a Joy Pop when you look at your pet sleeping so cutely and looking so peaceful.

Whatever way you find them, I hope you find lots of Gratitude Pops, Joy Pops, bursts of ‘Spark Joy’, and that many smiles cross both your face and heart today and everyday!

Authenticity

While looking up the Webster’s definition of authenticity, I picked this one as my favorite. Number 3 of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

3 : true to one’s own personality, spirit, or character
is sincere and authentic with no pretensions

We hear this word a lot out there today. It’s all about being authentic and I couldn’t agree more! It’s where it’s at! It’s the place to be!

I thought today I would write a little about what it means to me, when I think of us being authentic. Authentic people have the strength and the courage to be true to themselves and to be who they are. They embrace their uniqueness and know that it is in fact their gift!

Authentic people are honest, vulnerable, intimate, unique, bold, daring, passionate and real. They are brave enough to share a piece of themselves with the world. They are strong enough to bare their soul and to let it shine!

You see authentic people in the world with labels like artists, creators, musicians, authors, poets, rebels, free spirits, the givers, the lovers, the cooks, the bakers, and the candlestick makers. Everywhere you look you see them. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is a tender and vulnerable side to authenticity too. It involves approaching life with sincerity, honesty, openness, and vulnerability.

And then there is the daring side of authenticity that involves boldness, greatness, and glory!

Whatever words you attach to it, I wish for you the JOY of being and living through your authentic self. We are all here to discover our gifts and authentically share them with each other. May you live the beautiful and authentic life of your dreams and desires!

Choose Happy!

I just love the shirts that my granddaughter (left) and my daughter (right) have on in this picture!

“CHOOSE and Be Happy!” Wow! I think these shirts are awesome. One of my favorite resources that I both go to often and recommend to people often, is from Bonnie Ware’s Book about the top five regrets of the dying. You can see an article with reference to the top 5 regrets here: Article on Bonnie’s Wares Top Five Regrets of the Dying

With a new year coming, why not decide that 2019 is going to be the year you opt in for choosing happiness? We make choices in every second, every minute and every hour of our day. Choose Happiness I say! Life is so much easier and much more fun this way. Imagine waiting until your death bed or last breath to realize it was a CHOICE. Choose NOW! ๐Ÿ™‚ And remember Happiness is like a muscle, the more you use it, the bigger it gets! And that’s a good thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

New Year Solutions

Around this time of year I start to think about new solutions for the New Year. Not re-solutions but more so adding in more enhancements to my Life List. I ran across this post in my Facebook memories today an I loved it all over again! It is about my daughter who was 11 at the time.

siv new years res

I love Sivanna’s attitude and I share the same. I have learned that the secret to having what you want is knowing you already do! And when you really ‘feel’ that way you attract in more of that which you desire.

So I don’t think of a new year as something I have to go into thinking I have to change something or give something up. Instead I think what can I add in more of? What can I add in more of to make me smile more, love more, feel better more, have more JOY, more passion, more health, more peace of mind, more… more… more…. not give up, give up… ๐Ÿ™‚

When we start the New Year from a place of being happy now, we can attract more happiness. What we seek ALWAYS seeks us.

I am wishing all of you a wonder-filled and JOYous New Year of your choosing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Adapting, Anger, Joy

Adapting Versus Reacting

I was thinking today about people who react to situations and cause themselves and others pain. It got me thinking that there are two kinds of people. Those who react and those who adapt.

Reactors often harbor anger and their blood tends to boil. Think high blood pressure and the blood rising and boiling over. Adapters, on the other hand, go with the flow, and adapt their reactions, rather than react to them. This gives them quite the advantage as they are in charge of their own power by adapting versus reacting.

I am all about personal empowerment for myself and also for others when I am coaching tham. When we are personally empowered, we feel MORE in control and we are LESS affected by others, situations, the weather, challenges etc. Learning to adapt and even taking situations to the next level and actually embracing them, truly puts us in the driver’s seat!

For example we had a huge snow and ice storm here last night and into the morning. This landed us a lot of snow and our power went out too!

I had lots of snow to shovel and I decided to embrace it and more importantly to actually en-JOY it. I was grateful that I am healthy enough to shovel the snow and that I can. So while I was out there doing what I needed to do, I saw so much beauty around me like this picture with the bluest sky I’ve ever seen.bluest sky

I would put down my shovel, take a picture and delight in the glorious surroundings. I also was very grateful for where I live. It crossed my mind that I wouldn’t change a thing because I have already decided that Canada is where I want to live, otherwise I would have moved already. ๐Ÿ™‚ And with living in the centre of Canada we get winters like this. It’s all good. It was so much better to embrace and en-JOY then to react and feel frustrated and even angry at the weather.

And heck, my positive thinking worked so well that by the time I was finished my first round of shoveling, the power came back on and a neighbor came by with a snow blower lent to him by another neighbor and he and his Dad helped me with round 2 ๐Ÿ™‚ I then had even more gratitude and was whistling a happy tune for the day. What a great day it is!

Joy, Life Coaching, Mindfulness

Mindfulness & Chocolate

Mindfulness is a state of being that allows one to both connect with and be present with self and the environment around them. It is a way of being centered or grounded and connected.

Think of mindfulness as a moment by moment connection to thoughts, feelings, perceptions, senses, and outside stimuli. This concept may sound stimulating but it is actually the opposite. Mindfulness allows us to detach from judgement or conditional thinking. It is more like becoming an observer; an observer of self and the things and experiences around us.

Mindfulness can be experienced in many ways. One way is through meditation. Meditation allows the stream of consciousness to flow and float on by as the observer (You), silently watches or listens. This is a fine example of mindfulness.

Another easy way to practice mindfulness is when walking. Purposely experience and be aware of each step you take. A great place to practice this is in a park or in the wilderness. Observe yourself planting your foot down each time you take a step. Feel the earth beneath you, listen to the sound the step makes, feel your foot connect to the earth, observe how the ground feels beneath your foot, and observe the overall experience.

One of my favorite mindfulness exercises is with food. Take a piece of chocolate for example. Everybody loves chocolate. Take a bite of chocolate and truly experience it. Feel the texture of the chocolate as it melts in your mouth, delight in the taste, savour the flavour, and connect with the experience one bite at a time. Mindful eating is a very healthy addition to oneโ€™s lifestyle as it lets the body appreciate and be thankful for the food, especially when it involves nutritious and life enhancing foods full like fruits and vegetables. When one connects to the energy of โ€˜live foodsโ€™ they provide even more life-giving energy and their benefits are increased.

One way that I use mindfulness is by reminding myself to slow down, watch my steps, and to not rush when I am going somewhere, especially in increment weather. One wrong move can have long term complications, so I remind myself often to move mindfully.

There are countless ways to practice mindfulness, but I will leave you with the most important thought, which is to have fun with it and en-JOY the practice of mindfulness.

Maggie Holbik.com is a Board Certified Nutritionist and Certified Life Coach who is working at being more mindful and eating more chocolateโ€ฆ they are both so delightful.

Are The Holidays a Challenge For You?

“All human life has its seasons and cycles, and no oneโ€™s personal chaos can be permanent. Winter, after all, gives way to spring and summer, though sometimes when branches stay dark and the earth cracks with ice, one thinks they will never come, that spring, and that summer, but they do, and always.: โ€” Truman Capote.

Is this a hard time of year for you? Maybe you’ve lost a loved one or multiple loved ones or maybe you are alone, or you have had health issues, or this year has been very challenging for you. Whatever the case may be, remember that the sun always sets and better yet, it always rises again. There is always the HOPE of a new day, a new season and a new reason to keep the faith that things will get better.

Here are some ideas to help you shift your sadness, loneliness or pain.

When you are thinking of your loved ones that you have lost, why not try focusing on the beautiful and happy memories and ALLOW yourself to smile about them? They would want that. They would be saying, “Please, please, enjoy yourself, it’s my greatest wish for you!” Sometimes we think we are supposed to feel bad about them not being there and although it’s okay to miss them and grieve, it’s okay to have JOY from the memories that make our heart smile, and to en-JOY where we are now and who is in our lives now.

I too have suffered loss. By the age of 29, I had lost both parents and a soulmate in a 3 year time frame. Do I miss them? Yes, but I am also over-JOYED at the people in my life today, and even more empowered to make sure I make the most of the time that I have left. I have no time to waste and am grateful to be alive.

One of the best ways to rise out of our pain, is to give what you are looking for. If you are lonely maybe reach out to someone else and send a kind word, or make a phone call, or send a lovely message on social media to tell them that they are thought of at this time. What we give out, we truly get back tenfold! Give Love and you will get Love back. Give Kindness and you will get Kindness back. Give a helping hand and you will get a full heart. Be the love you seek and it shall seek you!.

I want to personally wish everyone reading this a Happy Holiday, or just a Happy Day today, whenever you are reading this. I wish for you more JOY, more LOVE and more LIFE!
